The song A História Da Nossa Língua brings together two Bahian artists Lucas Santtana and Gilberto Gil to celebrate the richness and complexity of the Brazilian language, with lyrics inspired by the book Latim em Pó by Caetano Galinado.
Gil has shaped Santtana's musical journey from the very beginning, when he played flute in the Unplugged Project (1994). The track unites the two artists through rhythm, history, and identity, highlighting the richness of Brazil's linguistic heritage. Conceived as a linguistic road trip, the song, which will feature on Lucas' upcoming album, traces the journey of Brasiliano from Vulgar Latin in Italy to the influences of Tupi-Guarani in Brazil - questioning cultural heritage, identity, and colonial memory.
